The Problem With Punishment Podcast
The problem with punishment is that it doesn’t work. But the bigger problem is that we turn to punishment for every aspect of our lives. We keep expecting it to work when, for the most part, it makes whatever problem we’re addressing worse– sometimes with deadly consequences. In The Problem with Punishment podcast, we talk to New Yorkers across issue areas, experiences, and generations to explore the problems with punishment, and to see what they’re doing instead. We offer this podcast both as a concrete resource for viable alternatives to punishment in New York that can also be replicated elsewhere, and to encourage people to think about how and why punishment dominates our lives.
